PT Tirta Mahakam Resources, (formerly PT Tirta Mahakam Plywood Industry Tbk) has been engaging in plywood starts from medium scale manufacturer in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The company started first commercial operation in 1983 by producing regular plywood, it was then followed by series of expansion programs and has grown into its position now as producer of varieties plywood products with specialty in floorbase plywood and its secondary processing. The company invested in sawmill that recycles log residues to produce blockboard in 1986 and expansion to fancy flooring plant and engineered color flooring plant was completed in 1992 and 1997, respectively. The company owns an integrated wood processing factory which was built on total land area of 158.850 m2. The factory is located along Mahakam River, Desa Bukuan, Palaran, Samarinda, East Kalimantan.

The company's main product include: Floor Base Plywood, General Plywood, Fancy Flooring, Color Flooring, and secondary products: Home Base Panel, Special Bending Plywood, Blockboard and Lumber Core. In 2000, The company has removed UV Color Floor business unit from Samarinda, East Kalimantan to the new plant located in Gresik, East Java on total area of 31.220 m2. The output of Production is as follow: - Handscrapped: handmade finish product with veneer from USA or Brazil species at top layer. Handmade will result in beatiful and creative design. - Natural product (Unfinished) : halfdone product layered with USA veneer species without coating and bring out the natural color. - Color Product (Prefinished) : finish product layered with USA veneer species with imitation color and natural color. UV Color Floor is finished product using pieces of import veneers and special drying process by latest designed technology.
At the initial stage of operation, the company’s sales turn over was US$ 5 million per annum which later significantly increased to be US$ 90 million per annum in 2006. As a labor intensive company, total number of workers now is reaching to 3000 employees.

In December 1999, The Company has become Go Public Company and the shares are listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange. Now the markets currently expands, we are one of export oriented company and our markets range includes Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, United States Of America and Canada. In order to be more competitive in the less conducive market in wood industry, the company has continuously applied strategic policies to increase production cost efficiency improvement on product quality and created some new innovative products with higher margins. The company also gained some certifications like JAS, ISO 9001:2000, COC, and ISO 14001 ongoing.
