The polymer electrolyte replaces the traditional porous separator, which is soaked with electrolyte. 3) Lightweight - gelled electrolytes enable simplified packaging by eliminating the metal shell
4) Improved safety - more resistant to overcharge; less chance for electrolyte leakage
