N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP) is a powerful, aprotic solvent with high solvency, and low volatility. This colorless, clear liquid has high chemical and thermal stability and is completely miscible with water and many solvents, such as acetaldehyde, ether, acetone, etc. at all temperatures.
Due to its high boiling point and excellence solvent power, NMP is widely used in electronics markets for semi-aqueous defluxing, degreasing, dye, pigment, coatings and wire enamels (poly-amide, epoxy and polyurethane) . NMP is also used in Li-Ion battery electrode.
Furthermore, it is used as a reaction solvent in a wide variety of chemistries, for agrochemicals and Pharmaceuticals and synthesis of PPS.
In other fields, metal cleaning and petrochemical processing including acetylene concentration, extracting the butadiene etc. NMP is widely used too.
