MIM Technology (Metal Injection Moulding) is a new method of manufacturing precision steel parts with complex shapes, more economically.
Initial production process is similar to plastic injection moulding. The only difference is the material used, which is a mixture of metal and plastic binder. HZMIM processes different BASF materials, other specifications on enquiry. First production step is to mould components using normal injection moulding machine. The binder is then removed in an acidic atmosphere leaving a highly porous metal skeleton.
The components are finally sintered, during which process they shrink to almost full density, achieving tolerances of +/- 0,3 % of finished nominal dimensions. Depending on the raw material used, parts may be hardened, tempered or magnetised.
