B4C( boron carbide ) is melted from boric acid and powdered carbon in electric furnace under high temperature . Its density is 2.52g/cm3, melting point 2450 degree. micro hardness 4950kgf/mm2, only next to diamond and cubic boron nitride. Due to its high strength , low gravity , corrosion-resistance, high temperature -resistance and stable chemical nature, it is ideal for a wide range of applications.
1: Used in refractory industry : as antioxidant additives in magnesia-carbon bricks.
2:Used to make other ceramic products such as: grit blasting nozzles, high pressure water juet cutter nozzles , seal ring .
3: sued in welding rods for improvement of wear resistance of surface.
4: Used to make ceramic anti-ballistic armour plasting such as : the small arms protective insert, etc.
