GFF(Gravity Flow Fiber) Filter?
By giving tension to the non-braided type fiber filter bundles fixed on the bottom, the fiber filter media is pressurized on the surface of the inner strainer up to its thickness to be 2~3 centimeters. Then the filtration is started with the gravity force less than about 30 centimeters of water head. The backwashing procedure is beginning when the water level is reached at given hight. The backwashing is performed by releasing the fiber bundles and sparging the backwash air to form intensive upward stream which can give a strong shear stress to move the fibers. This kind of filter is called GFF(Gravity Flow Fiber) Filter. When more than two of this kind filters are equipped in a same basin the backwash pumps are not need, since the backwash water is supplied automatically by upward stream coming from neighbor filters. So, it can be called PUMPLESS FILTER sometimes.
